Embodied Self-Care for People Living with Diabetes
Meet Siana

I'm a nurse, writer, and former diabetes educator who's been living with Type 1 diabetes for 40+ years. My diabetes diagnosis at age eight was - as it is for so many of us - a confusing time, and the amount of information and moving parts was overwhelming. Though I couldn't articulate it at the time, I wondered how I'd be able to manage such a complex job into adulthood. Since then, I became a nurse, and have had the honor of helping others with diabetes navigate and their experiences and their health. I'm passionate about telling stories through writing, advocating for people with diabetes, and improving emotional well-being in the setting of chronic illness.

Breathwork and Embodiment Practices for Diabetes

Diabetes creates chronic stress that can impact us in ways that feel small at times, and overwhelming many other times. Diabetes both requires and causes pain and discomfort from us (as we prick our fingers or inject insulin or take unpleasant medications or measure and consider everything we eat and do). When we seek to avoid the physical discomfort, we may also disconnect ourself from the wisdom that lives in our bodies.
In this type of coaching, we'll explore the diabetes-specific embodied practices I write about in my forthcoming book, The Sweet Spot (breathwork, meditation, affirmation, guided journaling), to help shift our stress, ease our discomfort, and reconnect with our innate wisdom.
